Steventon
John Stevens brought a large piece of land and named it Steventon in the 1850's.
It was located at the beginning of a gully.
Tea Tree Gully
Later it was undecided whether to call the settlement Steventon or Tea Tree Gully but after 1900 the Tea Tree Gully name was used.
The tea trees that grew in the area were nearly all removed to make way for growing crops and cut down to make fences.
The settlers used the leaves from the tea tree to make tea.
