Modbury
Robert Symons Kelly bought a section of land in 1847 which he used as farmlands and called "Modbury Farm" after Modbury in Devon, England.
When a new road cut through his farm he saw it as an opportunity to develop a village called Modbury. It was a quiet little village and had a school, hotel, an Institute and a post office as well as a few shops. It stayed that way for 50 years.
Today Tea Tree Plaza Shopping Centre is on the land that used to be part of Kelly's farm.
