Captain Robertson and his wife Elizabeth came to South Australia on the "Lady Lilford" in 1839.
He bought land in the Tea Tree Gully area in 1842.
Golden Grove was named after Captain Adam Robertson's farm, "Golden Grove Farm". He named his farm "Golden Grove" after the last ship he commanded.
Adam Robertson donated an acre of land for the community to build a school called "The Golden Grove School".
